Colin Doyle had four goals and two assists as the San Jose Stealth won their second in a row, defeating the struggling Rush 11-8 in National Lacrosse League action Saturday. The Rush, who completed a house-cleaning earlier in the week with former NLL coach of the year Bob Hamley coming in to replace Paul Day as the new head coach and GM, fell to 0-6 on the season and are the only winless team in the league. "Its disappointing. It certainly something to build on though," said Hamley, who was only able to have one practice with the Rush in the 48 hours between being named coach and guiding them against the Stealth. "Our second half we didnt shoot the ball very well. We made mental mistakes on the changes. "But its very important we stay positive. Its going to be a lot of work and blood, sweat and tears. We have to get a win soon. We have to find out a lineup that is going to get us one and we have to do it in a hurry." Dan Stroup and Mike Accursi each had two goals for the Rush with Kyle Goundry, Kevin Olson, Mike Grimes and Chris McElroy also scoring. Accursi hopes that some extra time with their new coach will pay dividends soon, because the way the Rush are playing right now is beyond frustrating. "We had a great first half and in the second half our offence was garbage, plain and simple," he said. "We werent good enough. Weve been preaching a lot and talking a lot and now it is time to shut up and start playing. "No matter who is behind the bench, players have to perform and right now players are not performing. We have to be accountable and our new coach is going to make guys accountable." The Stealth improved to 4-3 on the season, moving one win back of the West Division-leading Colorado Mammoth. San Jose head coach Walt Christianson says the come-from-behind victory was a testament to his teams will to win. "I thought it was a real character win," he said. "We had some adversity in the game but bounced back from it. We were shorthanded a number of times but Anthony Cosmo came through in net when he had to. And our offence came through and scored some big goals at the end. "If you want to be on top of this league, which is one of our goals, you have to be able to win those kinds of games." Doyle said there was some concern about playing a wounded team like the Rush, who had the added incentive of trying to impress a new coach, but the good teams find a way to win. "They played hard for their new coach and gave us everything we could handle," he said. "We were in a tough spot at the half but hopefully that fourth quarter shows that we are hopefully ready to take that step from a mid-level team to one of the upper echelon teams. That said, the upper echelon teams dont take halves off." Luke Wiles and Jeff Zywicki each had a pair of goals for the Stealth with single goals coming from Kyle Sorenson, Steve Panarelli and Frank Resetarits. San Jose got off to a quick start, scoring on Rush netminder Matt Disher, but gave back the goal midway through the first quarter when defender Curtis Hodgson accidentally shovelled a ball past his own goalie, Aaron Bold, to knot the game 1-1. Edmonton led 2-1 after the first. The teams traded goals before Grimes gave Edmonton a two-goal lead on a long shot, taken just after entering San Jose territory. San Jose got that one back, but the Rush responded with two quick goals in under a minute to go ahead 6-3, prompting the Stealth to pull Bold in favour of usual starter Cosmo midway through the second. The Stealth cut the lead to 6-4 at the half. The Stealth dropped the deficit to a single goal on Doyles hat trick early in the third. The low-scoring pace to the game continued with each team scoring once more to make for a 7-6 Rush lead entering the final 15 minutes. San Jose came out firing for the fourth scoring twice to take the lead five minutes in on an outside shot by Resetarits.  Edmonton would tie it up, but Zywicki responded with two consecutive clutch goals before captain Doyle put it away with his fourth of the contest to make for the 11-8 final. The Rush face the Portland LumberJax next Saturday. The Stealth have the week off before their next outing the following Saturday in Colorado. Notes - Hamley joined Edmonton from the Colorado Mammoth, where he was serving as an assistant coach after holding the job as head coach of the Arizona Sting the year before, only to see the club take a one-year leave of absence from the NLL. Hamley brought in local products Jamey Bowen and Chris Stachniak as assistants. On Tuesday, the Rush fired Day, who served as head coach and GM since the team came into the league in 2006.
