First rightous blog post, -In the can...Submitted by Bill Haynes on Sat, 06/27/2009 - 21:25 |
So as of late, there has been some talk between another member and myself of a possible podcast considering I already have a bit of nice gear ready to go and it would prove a good experiment on using some OSS to get the job done.
I've really been doing a ton of work on the site here lately putting in some serious effort to getting it ready for everyone.
Today alone I finished getting these modules finished and configured ready to go:
Twitter Module- Allows you to enter your twitter account info and have a block on the sidebar follow content of your choice while you're browsing around ModernGeek.com. This module also then adds a check box to any content you add that allows you to simultaneously have that content posted to your twitter page.
MetaTag Module-This module allows you to define multiple meta tags to define each post on you make on this site from here forward. It also allows you to type in a short paragraph-or-shorter detail of what the post is about. This as a while is primarily for SEO. But as a general rule is a powerful tool to render old articles for research when using search functions later down the road.
Browser Based Ajax IRC Client- This has been completely setup and installed but I have now been lead on a hunt for a way to get this connected to some type of proxy to connect to a server that does not like direct connections from browsers.
I have also recently added private messaging features which can be setup in the 'user setting' area to either email you or not to email you when you get the pm's. Be sure to set them.
MORE TO COME...
Still planned...
-I want to add avatars to the forum
-Add images to story/page/forum/blog posts on the article when it's on the front page
-Bio images
-Get shoutbox going

efforts always pay you back. as i m working with website hosting and know very well how much you have to indulge in it.

Right you are. When things first get going it has to be some sort of passion to stick with it. Later as people actually start to come, things get better and feel worthwhile.
